Audi SQ5 Finance Calculator: APRs, Pricing and Monthly Payments Explained
The SQ5's 3.0-litre V6 diesel and quattro grip make it one of the more compelling performance SUVs you can buy used, and a genuinely good car to finance. But the dealer's finance quote in front of you doesn't tell you whether "well" is what you're actually getting.
Prefinance runs that check for you: we take the dealer's own finance example for the exact SQ5 you're looking at and compare it against the best available rate from our panel of finance brokers for that type of vehicle. On average, that comparison turns up savings of up to 30% against dealer finance — though that's an average, not a promise for yours, and some dealer finance on an SQ5 may be competitively priced. Rates and calculations correct at time of posting but are subject to change.

Across Audi finance generally, Prefinance customers have seen an average APR of 8.81% through our panel, compared with a dealer average of 12.12%, working out to an average monthly saving of £59.26 and an average total saving of £2,738.09, based on 311 comparisons. Your own SQ5 comparison saving depends on your credit profile, the lender, and the specific deal in front of you.
What's the difference between PCP and HP on an SQ5?
Both are hire purchase agreements in the legal sense — the car isn't yours until the last payment clears — but they split the cost differently. HP spreads the full price, minus your deposit, evenly across the term, so every payment builds toward ownership and the monthly figure is higher as a result; that's the pattern behind the 2022 SQ5's two rows above, where dropping the deposit by just £416 pushed the deal from PCP into HP and the monthly payment up by nearly £277. PCP defers a chunk of the price to a Guaranteed (Minimum) Future Value at the end, which keeps the monthly payment down — you can then pay it to keep the car, hand it back, or roll it into your next one.
The SQ5's strong residual values genuinely help here. A healthier GFV at the end of a PCP term usually means a lower monthly payment along the way and more equity in the car when the agreement ends, compared with a model that depreciates faster — though your actual GFV always depends on the specific car, mileage and lender, not a guarantee tied to the model name.
How does Prefinance work out the saving?
You give us the vehicle — by registration, by make and model, or by pasting in a link from a dealer site or a listings site like Autotrader, provided that page shows a finance example. We read the dealer's own quote and compare it against the best available rate from our broker panel for that type of vehicle. The comparison assumes you'd qualify for the panel's best rate, which depends on your credit profile, and that the dealer you're buying from is FCA authorised. Every comparison you run is saved, so you can come back and check previous ones too.
Representative APR means at least 51% of customers offered finance by that provider get that rate or better — a genuine benchmark, not a guarantee of your own rate.
What affects the rate you're offered?
Credit score does most of the work, but deposit size, term length and the car's age and mileage all move the number too, as the table above shows. A longer term usually lowers the monthly payment but adds to the total interest paid. And a factor most buyers never think about: dealers and brokers earn commission for arranging finance, which is a genuine reason two near-identical SQ5s can be offered at different rates by different dealers — exposing that gap is a large part of what our comparison actually does.
On the maths: a flat rate of 5% on £30,000 over three years works out to roughly £1,500 a year in interest. As a rough rule of thumb, APR runs at close to double the flat rate, so a 5% flat rate typically shows up as something like a 9.8–9.9% APR.
What to check before you apply
Confirm the deposit and mileage in your comparison match the dealer's actual quote — the deposit is editable, but a mismatch elsewhere skews the result.
Work out your own amount of credit (price minus deposit) and check it against £60,260, especially if you're looking at a brand-new SQ5 rather than a used one.
Ask what happens to your monthly payment if the matched lender's GFV differs from the dealer's — don't assume it'll match exactly.
Read the broker's full representative example before signing anything — it carries the exact figures for your deal, not the illustrative ones above.
If you're buying through a business and Lease Purchase applies to you, expect to apply for a quote rather than getting an instant comparison.
None of this tells you upfront whether the dealer's SQ5 quote in front of you is already good — sometimes it is. The only way to know for sure is to run the comparison on your specific car and see what the panel comes back with.
