BMW 3 Series Finance Calculator
Whatever 3 Series model you've chosen, the only way to know if the finance quote in front of you is competitive is to compare it against something else.
Prefinance runs that comparison for you: we take the dealer's own finance example for the exact 3 Series you're looking at and compare it against the best available rate from our panel of finance brokers for that type of vehicle. On average, that turns up savings of up to 30% against dealer finance, though that's an average across many deals, not a promise for yours, and some dealer 3 Series finance may be competitively priced. Below are some live examples of finance rates and calculations; these are correct at the time of posting but are subject to change.

What's the difference between PCP and HP on a BMW 3 Series?
Both are hire purchase agreements in the legal sense; the car isn't yours until the final payment clears, but the cost is split differently between them. HP spreads the full price, minus your deposit, evenly across the term, so every payment builds toward ownership; that's what pushes the Touring's HP quote above to a noticeably higher monthly figure than its own PCP quote. PCP instead defers a portion of the price to a Guaranteed (Minimum) Future Value due at the end, this keeps the monthly payment lower, from there you can pay the GFV to keep the car, hand it back, or put it toward your next one.
Both structures rest on one assumption in Prefinance's instant comparison: that the new lender's GFV would match the dealer's own. A different broker might set that figure differently, so treat the illustrative monthly payment as a close estimate rather than a locked-in number.
How does Prefinance work out the saving?
You give us the vehicle — by registration, by make and model, or by pasting in a link from a dealer site or a listings site like Autotrader, provided that page shows a finance example. We read the dealer's own quote and compare it against the best available rate from our panel of credit brokers for that type of vehicle. The comparison assumes you'd qualify for the panel's best rate, which depends on your credit profile, and that the dealer you're buying from is FCA authorised. Every comparison you run is saved, so you can come back and check previous ones too.
Representative APR means at least 51% of customers offered finance by that provider get that rate or better, a genuine benchmark, not a guarantee of your own rate. Our panel is competitive on 3 Series models too, as the real examples above show, how much you'd actually save depends on the specific car and your own circumstances.
What affects the rate you're offered?
Your credit score, income and employment history are taken into account, but deposit size, term length, engine choice and the car's age all contribute to the number too, as the table above shows — the M340d's 24-month term against the M340i's 49-month term is a good illustration of how differently a deal can be structured on cars of similar value. A longer term usually lowers the monthly payment but adds to the total interest paid. And a factor most buyers don't think about: dealers and brokers earn commission for arranging finance, which is a genuine reason two near-identical 3 Series cars can be offered at different rates by different dealers; exposing that gap is a large part of what our comparison actually does.
What to check before you apply
Confirm the deposit and mileage in your comparison match the dealer's actual quote — the deposit is editable, but a mismatch elsewhere skews the result.
If comparing PCP against HP on the same car, check whether the term is also different, not just the finance type — as the Touring example above shows, that changes what you're really comparing.
Ask what happens to your monthly payment if the matched lender's GFV differs from the dealer's — don't assume it'll match exactly.
Read the credit broker's full representative example before signing anything — it carries the exact figures for your deal, not the illustrative ones above.
To know for sure whether the dealer's BMW 3 Series quote you have is competitive, run the comparison on your specific car and see what the panel of brokers comes back with.
