BMW 3 Series M Sport Finance Calculator & Pricing
Financing an M Sport? Whichever model you've chosen, the dealer's finance quote is only useful once you've measured it against something else.
Prefinance runs that comparison for you: we take the dealer's own finance example for the exact 3 Series M Sport you're looking at and compare it against the best available rate from our panel of finance brokers for that type of vehicle. On average, that turns up savings of up to 30% against dealer finance, though that's an average across many deals, not a promise for yours. What follows is a representative of BMW 3 Series M Sport finance examples with rates and calculations as of the time of posting; they are subject to change.

What's the difference between PCP and HP on a 3 Series M Sport?
Both are hire purchase agreements in the legal sense; the car isn't yours until the final payment clears, but the cost is split differently between them. HP charges you for the full price, minus your deposit, spread evenly over the term, so every payment builds toward ownership; that's what pushes the Touring's HP quote above to a noticeably higher monthly figure than its own PCP quote. PCP instead sets aside a portion of the price as a Guaranteed (Minimum) Future Value, due only at the end, which is what keeps the monthly payment lower; you can then pay it to keep the car, hand it back, or put it toward your next one.
Both structures rest on the same working assumption in Prefinance's instant comparison: that the new lender's GFV would match the dealer's own. A different broker might value it differently, so treat the illustrative monthly payment as a close estimate rather than a locked-in number.
How does Prefinance work out the savings?
You give us the vehicle — by registration, by make and model, or by pasting in a link from a dealer site or a listings site like AutoTrader, provided that page shows a finance example. We read the dealer's own quote and compare it against the best available rate from our broker panel for that type of vehicle. The comparison assumes you'd qualify for the panel of brokers' best rate, which depends on your credit profile, and that the dealer you're buying from is FCA authorised. Every comparison you run is saved, so you can come back and check previous ones too.
Representative APR means at least 51% of customers offered finance by that provider get that rate or better, a genuine benchmark, not a guarantee of your own rate. As the real examples above show, how much you'd actually save depends on the specific car and your own circumstances.
What affects the rate you're offered?
Credit score does most of the work, but deposit size, term length, engine choice and the car's age all move the number too. As the table above shows, the two 5dr 320i M Sport rows quoted a fortnight apart show similar cash prices producing noticeably different monthly figures once term and deposit are factored in. A longer term usually lowers the monthly payment but adds to the total interest paid. And a factor most buyers never think about: dealers and brokers earn commission for arranging finance, which is a genuine reason two near-identical M Sport cars can be offered at different rates by different dealers; exposing that gap is a large part of what our comparison actually does.
What to check before you apply
Confirm the deposit and mileage in your comparison match the dealer's actual quote — the deposit is editable, but a mismatch elsewhere skews the result.
If comparing PCP against HP on the same car, check whether the term is also different, not just the finance type — as the Touring example above shows, that changes what you're really comparing.
Ask what happens to your monthly payment if the matched lender's GFV differs from the dealer's — don't assume it'll match exactly.
Read the broker's full representative example before signing anything — it carries the exact figures for your deal, not the illustrative ones above.
To know for sure whether the dealer's 3 Series M Sport quote in front of you is already good, which sometimes it is. Is to run the comparison on your specific car and see what the panel of brokers comes back with.
