Finance Calculator for MINI Cooper

You've found the MINI Cooper you want, and the dealer's handed you a finance quote. It might be a good one. It might not be. Without something to compare it against, there's genuinely no way to tell from the number alone.

Prefinance runs that comparison for you: we take the dealer's own finance example for the exact Cooper you're looking at and compare it against the best available rate from our panel of finance brokers for that type of car. On average, that turns up savings of up to 30% against dealer finance; that's not a promise for yours, it's an average across many deals.

What's the difference between PCP and HP on a Cooper?

Both are financial agreements; the car isn't yours until the final payment clears, but they split the cost differently. HP (Hire Purchase) spreads the full price, minus your deposit, evenly across the term, so every payment builds toward ownership. PCP (Personal Contract Purchase), which is what both current Cooper examples use, instead sets aside a slice of the price as a Guaranteed (Minimum) Future Value, only due if you decide to keep the car at the end; that's what keeps the monthly figure lower than an equivalent HP deal would be.

Either way, Prefinance's instant comparison rests on one shared assumption: that the lender you're matched with would set the same GFV the dealer did. That's not guaranteed, so treat the monthly payment shown as a close estimate rather than a fixed number.

How does Prefinance work out the savings?

You give us the vehicle — by registration, by make and model, or by pasting in a link from a dealer site or a listings site like Autotrader, provided that page shows a finance example. We read the dealer's own quote and compare it against the best available rate from our broker panel for that type of vehicle. The comparison assumes you'd qualify for the panel's best rate, which depends on your credit profile, and that the dealer you're buying from is FCA authorised. Every comparison you run is saved, so you can come back and check previous ones too.

Representative APR means at least 51% of customers offered finance by that provider get that rate or better; it's a genuine benchmark, not a guarantee of your own rate. How much you'd actually save depends on the specific car and your own circumstances.

What affects the rate you're offered?

Your credit score does most of the work, but the deposit size and the specific GFV set for a car also move the number too, as the table above shows: The Exclusive's much larger deposit is a big part of why its monthly payment sits so far below the newer Classic despite a lower GFV proportionally. A longer term usually lowers the monthly payment but adds to the total interest paid. And a factor most buyers never think about: dealers and brokers earn commission for arranging finance, which is a genuine reason two near-identical Coopers can be offered at different rates by different dealers; exposing that gap is a part of what our comparison does.

What to check before you apply

  1. Confirm the deposit and mileage in your comparison match the dealer's actual quote — the deposit is editable, but a mismatch elsewhere skews the result.

  2. Ask what happens to your monthly payment if the matched lender's GFV differs from the dealer's — don't assume it'll match exactly.

  3. If you're weighing a bigger deposit against a smaller one, look at how much it actually moves the monthly payment, not just whether you can afford to put more down.

  4. If you'd rather have an HP deal than PCP, ask the dealer directly — neither live example here is structured that way, but that doesn't mean it isn't on offer.

  5. Read the broker's full representative example before signing anything — it carries the exact figures for your deal, not the illustrative ones above.

None of this tells you upfront whether the dealer's MINI Cooper quote in front of you is already good; sometimes it is. The only way to know for sure is to run the comparison on your specific car and see what the panel of brokers comes back with.

Disclaimer

Rates are the best available and may not be available for this exact vehicle. Mileages, vehicle age, term of loan, the exact lender and the type of finance can all affect the rate and monthly payment. Rates can change and previous examples shown may no longer be available. We use large language models (LLMs) to extract data from website pages to calculate our savings. LLMs can make errors so it's important you check the information on any quotes with the brokers in our panel. They will re-run all quotes with their individual lenders panels to find the appropriate deal based on today's rates.

Our assumptions

To provide our comparisons, we make the following assumptions:

1
You have a good credit rating and will qualify for the provider's best available rate.
2
The vehicle you have chosen is from a dealer who is FCA authorised.
3
If the example is for a personal contract plan (PCP), that the GFV (guaranteed future value) is the same. If the lender is different from the dealer's lender, the GFV could be higher or lower, which will affect your monthly payments.
4
That the deposit is the same. You can change the deposit using the edit button)
5
For Lease Purchase you will need to request a quote from one of partners by submitting an application.
